An original black and white photo reference from St. Andrews P.E.I 1946 in a series I did with Island Historian David Weale celebrating Rural life on Prince Edward Island between 1900-1960. I took the time to weave the oil paint on their baskets vertically and horizontally as they did. Keptin John Joe Sark recognized the identities of the two ladies by the weaving of their baskets in the painting. I also recognized an image my muse told me I had to paint.
