An original black and white photo aboard the Abegweit from 1950 in a series I did with Island Historian David Weale. My Dad was in the Navy and Coast Guard and knew the original Captain, and he made a quick phone call for me to get the correct colours of the ship, exactly what the life preserver read, etc. Her features were changed and painted blue in 1951. Like many Islanders, I have so many fond memories onboard this ship leaving the Island, and even more so when we were returning home.
